Visualize any numeric field in a map

By default, maps visualize the count of the records in your dataset. This is useful when you want to understand the relationship between location and the number of incidents, events, or transactions. SpatialKey can also visualize how other attributes of your data trend relative to location. For example, given a dataset of real estate transactions, SpatialKey can visualize average sale price or total square footage by location.

mapbycount mapbyavgprice
The map on the left visualizes the number of transactions by geography. The map on the right visualizes the average price of those transactions.

This type of location intelligence is particularly powerful when combined with one or more SpatialKey filters. For example, we could easily add a filter to see only the 3 bedroom condos in this dataset, and only transactions that occurred in a particular time range.

Here’s how to change the value being visualized on the map:

  1. In the Layer Manger of the map, click the map layer setting cog.
  2. Select the second option on the left (labeled Count by default)
  3. Select a field, and then the aggregate you would like to display.

In a similar fashion, you can change the value presented in the y-axis of timelines and numeric histograms as well as the summary values presented in the categorical displays.
